I started tattooing in 1999 after 8 years if getting tattooed (mainly by Patty). My interest in the tattoo world started in my college years at WVU, when some of my college friends got tattooed (in th 80s). I got my first tattoo done in '91 and was hooked. I finished my degree in Sociology & Anthropology in '93 while doing all of my research papers and projects about tattoos and tattoo culture. I kept delving into the current tattoo culture by getting more work done, going to conventions, and reading tattoo books and magazines. I had designed most of my tattoos up to that point and tended to be pretty meticulous and precise with the process. I always thought it would be cool to be a tattoo artist, but never seriously considered it as a career. Patty had done all of my work since 1992, including a full back-piece, so we spent pleny of time together. We go to know each other pretty well, and when our personal circumstances allowed, we started dating. We got married in December 1998. At this point we started talking about me tattooing. Within a few months, we decided taht I had the ability and desire to pursue tattooing. I started my apprenticeship at Thinkin' Ink. I spent a total of 9 years there (5 as an apprentice) learning from several different artists, but Patty was the most influential. After the death of the mentor/owner, Youngen, at Thinkin' Ink, Patty and I decided it was in our best interest to go out on our own and open our own tattoo shop. We have been proud and happy business owners since September 2008 thanks to all of our customers, employees, family and friends.
